HERE WE GO! Better late than never, but we are here with our first official blog post. Welcome to The Weird, the Wonderful and the Downright Peculiar! We’re kicking off with a little storytime with how being shoved together in a flat of strangers led to us becoming Two Halves of the Same Walnut.
Naturally, it started when we applied to the same university and ended up next door neighbours in a flat with five other strangers. From day dot, our house was pretty solid and we formed our initial friendships which involved becoming regulars at our local pub and trialling a self defence society which was definitely NOT our forté. Over the course of semester one, we became our own little duo, bonding over high school musical tunes, gross face swaps and the sudden and bizarre expiration of our flat family. This drama (stay tuned for a separate story time on that), ended with the search for our second year home.
Second year was a shit show, but a necessary shit show. We were living in a grim house, even by uni student standards, which clearly had no tlc since the beginning of time, and moved from one set of bad housemates to another. We made the best of a bad situation and despite all the woes, our friendship survived another year of uni.
Third year was OUR year. Despite previous setbacks, we really came into our own. And then… Lockdown happened. And then we came into our own… AGAIN. The pandemic put a halt to our new-found social lives, but opened the door to a different kind of fun, involving learning Tik Toks, having water fights and having Whitney seshes full blast in the conservatory and ultimately procrastinating our dissertations until finally, we had to part ways for the first time in three years. The pandemic made our final uni year come to an end sooner than intended, meaning we had to officially part ways as roomies and have remained separated since 😦
Fast forward to January 2021, in the midst of our third lockdown and living a hefty 111 miles away, we are living in each other’s virtual pockets, making do with daily messaging, regular facetimes and continuing our constant silliness. After initially setting our homepage up back in July 2020, after half a year of procrastination, we are finallyyy ready to share our rollercoaster of a blog with you, so get your popcorn ready and keep your arms and legs inside the ride at all times, as things get Weird, Wonderful and Downright Peculiar 😉
Until next time,
